Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative Symposium to Reveal Exclusive New Research and Cutting-Edge Techniques for Engaging Consumers
REDMOND, WA -- Nov 10, 2010 -- Continuing its work to bring together all stakeholders to advance a modern, consumer-friendly grid, the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC) will host its annual symposium – Partnering for Progress – on Jan. 31, 2011 at the San Diego Convention Center. The half-day event will bring together top utilities, vendors, consumer advocates and researchers to share cutting-edge findings unavailable anywhere else, including:

•Results from SGCC focus groups conducted in regions across the country
•Release of SGCC’s exclusive “State of the Smart Grid Consumer” study
•Reports from leading experts on cutting-edge concepts
•Preliminary concepts for a national “brand” and educational outreach program

"When we launched SGCC this year, we sought to bring together the key players to work shoulder-to-shoulder for a consumer-safe, consumer-friendly smart grid," noted Jesse Berst, co-founder and Acting Executive Director. "This symposium is where we invite the public to share what we have discovered. Anyone interested in helping consumers benefit from the smart grid should join us on Jan. 31. It is the best place to get access to research, insights and lessons learned about delivering smart grid programs in a way that safeguards consumers and encourages their participation.”

In addition to the latest research, attendees will hear lessons from pioneering utilities as they reveal what works and what doesn't. They will hear insights from consumer advocates as they share what their constituents need and want. And they will gain expertise from other industries that have already gone through the process of understanding, segmenting and satisfying consumers.

Industry’s first and only integrated analysis

As a bonus, all registrants will receive a free copy of SGCC's State of the Smart Grid Consumer study, an integrated analysis of common themes from more than two dozen major research studies (many not available to the public).

“We are so fortunate to get access to cutting-edge research, some of which is normally private,” explained Judith Schwartz, Research Director. “It is when you put these studies side-by-side that you uncover important new themes and trends.”

SGCC’s membership includes major organizations that fund significant research, including leading technology companies, utilities, national laboratories, retailers and advocacy groups. However, some of that research is proprietary. Because SGCC is a nonprofit chartered for research and education in the public good, several member companies have contributed private studies for the purposes of the industry’s first-ever integrated analysis.

The symposium will run from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Additional details and a registration form are available on the SGCC website by clicking the “Partnering for Progress” link. As the symposium takes place a day ahead of the annual DistribuTECH conference in San Diego, registrants can use one form to register for both events.

Visit SGCC for more information about the event and to register at the same time that you register for DistribuTECH 2011.
