Recent financing provides greater flexibility in expanding businesses globally RALEIGH, N.C. (May 16, 2011) - Sensus, the leading smart utility infrastructure company, is positioned to accelerate growth in its product portfolio and expand into new markets. Last week Sensus announced it has assumed a new debt structure totaling $675 million. Backed by Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs & Co. and Deutsche Bank, the move gives Sensus greater flexibility to expand and grow its business globally. “Global utilities are interested in partnering with companies that are delivering end-to-end solutions today and are able to support their evolving needs of tomorrow. The push by utilities to modernize operations, improve efficiencies and further customer engagements opens the door for companies like Sensus, with proven technologies and a sustainable business model, to grow and excel,” said Sensus CEO and President Peter Mainz. The core strength of Sensus is the breadth and depth of its comprehensive offering to utilities. The company delivers products and services for electric, gas and water utilities including a communications technology that supports a full range of applications such as data acquisition, demand response, distribution automation, home area networking and outdoor lighting control. “The trend in the utility space is moving beyond smart metering. That’s been proven. What’s happening now is utilities are looking beyond traditional applications and finding new ways to leverage our secure, robust communications network,” said Mainz. Sensus technologies are deployed in over nine million endpoints by more than 300 utility customers. Recent innovations include the iPERL™ residential water management system and a two-way SmartPoint™ communications module for advanced natural gas metering. Since the end of calendar year 2010, Sensus has secured deployments for its electric, gas and water solutions with utilities across the U.S., including PECO, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, Florida’s Talquin Electric and SECO Energy.
