Marketing Communications Manager Nancy E. Broe has extensive experience in corporate communications and marketing project management.

Her education includes a broad background in communications (B.A. in literature with a minor in journalism/public relations from the University of Maryland) and post-graduate training in graphic design and production, professional editing, and publications marketing (George Washington University’s Publications Specialist Certificate).

She began her career in 1982 in the Public Affairs office of a national professional association, where she served the communications needs of members on legal, legislative, and consumer issues.  She built and managed a clearinghouse of in-depth topical research, wrote weekly and monthly news summaries, helped plan and host member events, participated in grassroots lobbying efforts, and more.

Nancy spent several years as the Publications Specialist for award-winning Washington, D.C.-based designer Richard Rabil, where she wrote promotional copy, coordinated production of monthly magazines and other projects, designed graphic concepts, and provided editorial, proofreading, graphics, and project management services at many levels and phases of production.

In the Marketing Department of GEICO Insurance Companies’ national headquarters, Nancy created winning ad copy and wrote clear, easy-to-follow policyholder forms and documents.  She created original promotional concepts and wrote, edited, proofread, and managed projects through to delivery for nationwide, targeted, direct mail campaigns.

Prior to joining The McDonnell Group in early 2008, Nancy ran her own freelance communications firm for over a decade.  She provided customized promotional writing, proofreading, copyediting, editorial management, and related services to clients in healthcare, information technology, business, and non-profit fields.

Nancy is an active member of the Georgia Writer’s Association, Friends of Emory Creative Writing, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.  She is a founding member of the Caribou Critique Chicks and a book club and she is an active volunteer in her local community schools.
