Arcadian Networks and Proximetry Collaborate on Smart Grid Wireless Communication Networks

Joint efforts will offer multiprotocol, multi-frequency networking solutions for the sophisticated networking needs of energy utilities

NEW YORK and SAN DIEGO – February 3, 2010 - Arcadian Networks and Proximetry announced today a joint product development program to develop advanced communications solutions for smart grid networks. The program integrates Arcadian’s broadband communication hardware and software with Proximetry's AirSync™ RF control software.

Initial product development will focus on multi-radio wireless routers that incorporate Proximetry's software platform beginning with the Arcadian AE20r which will be powered by AirSync and is expected to come to market midyear.

“Our utility customers will benefit from the broader, enhanced set of products and services for their smart grid communication networks,” said Ed Solar, president and CEO of Arcadian Networks. “Arcadian provides an integrated and turn-key solution that is based on our licensed, secure spectrum and extends to our equipment and RF design. Our joint work with Proximetry will allow us to broaden our multi-layered approach to the smart grid, by accommodating multiple protocols and frequencies required for a truly cost-effective solution.”

“Our combined solution provides a win-win solution to all industry stakeholders,” added Tracy Trent, Proximetry CEO. “Our joint development program with Arcadian makes replacing outmoded, inefficient RF systems with a secure consolidated system easier and will accelerate smart grid initiatives in the industry. Integrating management and control of these networks improves performance, security and interoperability and achieves the lowest total cost of ownership.”
